Steve is a mining engineer with over 35 years’ experience in the industry, initially in operations, then in mine evaluation and development roles and diverse corporate roles including a period as CEO of a listed junior company.

He has held Operations Management positions in various underground and open pit mines culminating in a thirteen-year period as Managing Director and Project Manager of the Spanish based company that identified, studied, designed, permitted, financed, constructed, and put into operation (2019) the Barruecopardo Tungsten mine in Western Spain. This mine continues to operate successfully today adjacent to an International Conservation Zone and within an EU Nature 2000 Special Protection Zone for birds, employing some 200 persons and selling a high-quality mineral concentrate product across the globe.

A multi-lingual generalist, with a very strong ESG as well as economic focus, Steve’s experience is especially strong in tungsten, though also covers base, precious and specialty metals generally, both open pit and underground mining configurations, and various concentrating and processing techniques. In addition, he has exceptional direct hands-on management experience of all phases of diverse mining projects from early-stage exploration right through to mine closure and rehabilitation.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Engineering (2nd Class Honors) in Mining Engineering from the University of NSW in Australia.
